The goal was to create a moody, symbolic illustration titled “Candle Works” to represent the candle makers identity. The company wanted an image that captured the magic of their craftsmanship behind their product line.

The illustration features a centered candle illuminating a playing card displaying the Eye of Horus, a symbol of protection, healing, and insight. The dim room and dramatic lighting help reinforce the theme of candles as a source of comfort and guidance.

THE CHALLENGE

Illustrating a scene primarily lit by a single light source can easily look flat or unnatural. The challenge was achieving a balance between darkness and light to create a visual sense of magic, of otherworldly qualities.

PROJECT BRIEF

Cosmic Cavern is a children’s book that introduces young readers to the wonders outer space and celestial bodies. The goal of this project was to create a bold, eye-catching promotional poster to be used at book fairs that would immediately spark curiosity.

THE CHALLENGE

The main challenge was making the poster visually striking using simple and child-friendly shapes. The texture is purposedly used to retain the viewer's attention and draw them into the mystery of the cave.

The main challenge was creating a piece that clearly honors Frida Kahlo without simply copying her artistic style. Her imagery is iconic, and it was important to maintain her recognizable features while still presenting a fresh interpretation.
